Therapy groups are great teachers of how we interact, what assumptions and expectations we bring into all relationships, and why others find us valuable.  Most people expect the group to be judging and are afraid that, "they won't like me."  Most find a warm and accepting community and an experience rich and transformative.

Is group therapy right for me?

If you can make a commitment to the group of consistent and sober attendance, and are willing to try to give some help, group might be right for you.  Members benefit by learning to talk about their relationships, experiences, and feelings.  Typically, feedback is given gently, but takes some courage to listen to.  Most people are surprised at how quickly and strongly the group comes to care about and value them.

Who, What, When

Traditional Group Therapy: For folks able to work, attend school, or other daily activities, free from severe symptoms and wanting to learn more about themselves, how they relate with others, and how healthy relationships help with depression, anxiety, sadness, etc.  This group meets Wednesdays at 5:00 until 6:30.

Trauma Skills and Support: Do you suffer from the pain of past trauma?  Are you often afraid?  Have flashbacks, mistrust, mood swings, sleep problems, and other trauma symptoms robbed you of your ability to enjoy your life?  The trauma skills group runs in 12 week cycles, providing a safe place to learn skills and receive support.

Substance Abuse/CRASH Counseling Group:  Deal with your substance abuse while fulfilling mandated counseling requirements for CRASH, probation/parole, and school.  This group seeks a balance between the support you need to face your issues, with the challenges you need to break through any denial.  This group meets Saturdays from 10:15 until 11:45 am.
