Who Am I?

I am a dedicated full-time psychotherapist, and I take my work and your needs seriously.  I will listen to you carefully, letting you know that how you feel matters to me.  I will understand as much as I can, while helping you feel safe and accepted.  I'll stand beside you and walk with you during your therapeutic journey.

I have many years of experience working with families, starting in 1994 in the Teens Living Clean program at the University Of Medicine and Dentisry of New Jersey.

I moved to Vermont in 1998, escaping from New Jersey in search of a good place to raise a family.

I opened my practice in 2001, after working for The Howard Center, Brattleboro Retreat Outpatient (Continuum Program), and The Crossroads Program, all here in Vermont.

In my private practice,  I initially specialized in and studied trauma recovery, and ran a group for trauma survivors.  I saw first-hand how important, and difficult, securely attached relationships are, once a basic trust has been violated.

In the last few years, I have further developed an expertise in attachment based individual and couples counseling.  Based on comprehensive theory and rigorous science, attachment theory is the foundation of how love and relationships work.  Resolving attachment insecurity and trauma turns out to be the heart of most psychotherapies.  It means a lot to me when I can help my clients reconnect and remember how to love and be in genuine relationship.

I am licensed by the State of Vermont both as a mental health counselor and as an alcohol and drug counselor.  I also hold an advanced certification in clinical hypnosis through The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH.)

I am a board member of the Vermont Mental Health Counselors Association.

I am a husband and father, and occasionally a soccer coach.
