Welcome
Getting Started in Therapy
The first step is often the hardest, and you have already started by finding my website. You don't need to solve your relationship or mental health problems alone, any more than you would fill your own cavities or treat your own chest pains. So you might be asking,
"Can therapy help?" and "What is wrong with me?"
We all have something. Something we fear, something we can't solve, something that brings up shame, grief, or anger. Something that gets in our way, and that we cannot resolve alone.
What can you do?
What I know is that, as humans, we can deal with so much more when we feel the compassion and support of someone standing with us, someone who is safely and solidly there for us. We rarely thrive in isolation.
Further, as a therapist, I am a serious student of the emotional, mental, physical, and relational aspects of being human. We use experts for taxes, dental work, car repair and hair styling, so it only makes sense to consult an expert for learning to be the person you want to be.
What I do is to provide that support and the expertise, while you learn to trust, accept, and use my help. You will become able to ask for assistance, feel understood, and use and return the soothing security of a solid relationship. Through our relationship and interactions we find options and solutions.
What Are My Therapy Choices?
I see people individually, and also work with couples and facilitate several therapy groups. When you call, we can discuss what you are looking for, and the best way to get started.
Whether it makes more sense for you to see me individually, with your partner, or in group , my belief is that, working together, we are stronger, more resiliant, and more open to options and exploration than we are alone.
If you would like to work with me to get through your "something," contact me and let's get together and get started. My phone number is 802-878-0550 ext. 7, and my email is scott@vermontcounselor.com
